Are
you looking for an opportunity to join the warmest, most wonderful
group of volunteers anywhere? We invite you to join our team!
Nikkei Concerns' volunteers range in age from the very young
to the very old, and are at the heart of all we do. Our volunteers
allow our organization to reach higher, go farther, and serve
hundreds more than we ever could without them. They serve
in an endless variety of ways, but have one trait in common:
generosity that comes from a sense of kimochi -- a
deep, compassionate sense of caring for the residents and
participants of our programs.
Here are just some of the ways that you can
volunteer your time:
Skilled Nursing Facility
Resident Rights at Seattle Keiro
- Visit once a week with a resident
- Assist with gardening and maintenance
- Sew lap covers
- Deliver meals to residents
- Fluff and fold resident clothing
- Co-lead a resident activity
- Assist a resident with an arts and crafts activity
- Drive residents on a field trip
- Help with filing and data entry
Assisted Living
Resident Rights at Nikkei Manor
- Serve as tour guide or driver on a field trip
- Escort a resident shopping
- Conduct BINGO on a Saturday afternoon
- Assist with gardening and maintenance
- Serve as a volunteer receptionist
Adult Day Program
- Drive participants from their homes to the program
- Serve tea, snacks and lunch to participants
- Co-lead light exercises
- Help participants with arts and crafts
- Sing with participants
- Serve as a personal needs assistant or escort
Continuing Education Program
- Teach your special skill, hobby or talent to older adult
learners
- Drive participants to nearby points of interest
- Help brainstorm ideas for new classes and field trip destinations
- Work a shift at the Nikkei Concerns booth at a community
festival
- Anything else you can think of! We're open to your creative
ideas!
