TOURS

LUNCH BUNCH
Join us once a month for lunch in the fine company of your Nikkei Horizons comrades. These outings are a fun way to stay connected with your peers and try new and different restaurants around Puget Sound. Often there's a little time for shopping or sightseeing along the way, as well. The first outing is decided for you, and the last two will be decided by the group from a list of options presented by your escort. Price includes transportation and lunch for your escort and driver (this is a necessary adjustment from last quarter). Participants pay for their own meal. You may join us for all three outings, or just one or two, but be sure to let us know on your registration form which dates you'll attend. Our first lunch will be at Tuna House Japanese Cuisine, near Bellevue Community College, serving fresh and fantastic Japanese food.

Many of you have waited for just this kind of tour! We will visit the year-round flower-blooming gardens, Lakewold Gardens, during May Fest. A one-and-a-half-hour guided tour will give us an opportunity to take a look at the most beautiful blooming flowers and plants in the gardens. Take some time to stop by the garden shop and look for plants, flowers, and garden books to help your gardens or patios look brilliant! After our walk through the gardens, we will have lunch at The International Restaurant and Buffet at Emerald Queen Casino. This restaurant features gourmet Chinese, American and Continental cuisine. Of course, they serve the freshest seafood in the Northwest - all prepared to perfection. There is quite a bit of walking on this tour so please wear comfortable shoes.

CLAM AND OYSTER DIG
David Ojima generously offers this wonderful opportunity for us again! We'll dig clams and oysters, so bring your containers or Ziplock bags with your name on them to keep your abundant catch! Bring along waterproof boots (not sneakers or street shoes, as they will get wet/muddy), a small hand towel or small shovel (not large shovel or spade), oyster knife, and leather gloves for shucking the oysters (no cotton or rubber kitchen gloves). Enjoy a bento lunch on the beach after our dig. All participants MUST purchase a one-day shellfish license, which costs $7. If you want to purchase a year-long shellfish license, the cost is only $8.76 for seniors. You can purchase the license online at http://fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov, by telephone at 1-866-246-9453, or at any sporting goods store. The web site for WA fish & wildlife is http://wdfw.wa.gov.
