Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Nikkei Concerns, a not-for-profit elder care organization primarily serving the Japanese Community, is seeking qualified candidates for Chief Executive Officer (CEO). We are looking for a seasoned professional with demonstrated leadership skills and experience with the Japanese American Community. Expertise in senior health care and community fund raising are strongly preferred. Restorative Nursing Assistant – On-Call

Provides restorative therapy exercises to residents to improve or maintain their physical function and independence. Accomplishes the above in a manner that promotes dignity and individuality and is based on the Comprehensive Plan of Care.

  • Reviews the Contracture Management as applicable to individual residents
  • Trains new restorative staff as directed by the Restorative Supervisor
  • Does monthly QA on Roho cushion
  • Provides care exactly as directed by the RAFS/PSFP sheets and the Restorative Supervisor
  • Explains the restorative program tasks to the resident to assure that they understand, gain the confidence of the resident to utilize his/her maximum potential
  • Uses the available therapy materials to follow through with the outlined programs
  • Cleans and properly stores the therapy equipment
  • Documents all therapy given prior to the end of the shift
  • Reports any changes in resident condition, positive or negative, to the Restorative Supervisor and Team Nurse or CCC immediately
  • Reports any unusual occurrences, accidents or hazards to the Restorative Supervisor, Team Nurse or CCC immediately
  • Reports any exposure to blood or body fluids to the Restorative Supervisor, Team Nurse or CCC and cleans up any spills immediately
  • Attends at least 12 hours of in-services per year
  • Attends Restorative meetings, contributing new ideas and assisting to solve problems
  • Handles all forms of resident Protected Health Information (PHI) in a confidential, private and secure manner

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to speak an Asian language is highly desirable
  • Ability to adapt to sudden change
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to interact calmly with residents, family and staff in all situations, under stressful conditions

Education, Experience and Certifications:

  • Current Washington state Nursing Assistant Certification
  • Minimum of one year of experience as a Nursing Assistant

Social Worker

General Duties:

  • Coordinates and communicates regularly with staff and residents to advocate a program that meets the social, intellectual, creative, physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of all our residents at their appropriate level of care
  • Leads or attends various staff and care review meetings and resident care conferences
  • Acts as ambassador and public relations representative to guests and other off-campus visitors
  • Serves as information source for families and the community

Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Social Work from an accredited school.
  • Bilingual (Japanese) is a plus.
  • Must be self-motivated.
  • Must be able to relate to residents and staff of diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrate an appreciation for the heritage, values, and wisdom of our residents, including an understanding of the aging process

Licensed Nurse

Provides direct nursing care to assigned residents within 75-bed continuing care unit. Provides direct supervision of Nursing Assistants to ensure appropriate clinical care that meets residents' changing needs.
  • Performs and assist with technical nursing procedures
  • Provides skilled nursing assessments and interventions as directed in the comprehensive plan of care
  • Administers medications and treatments to assigned residents, following all appropriate physician's orders
  • Documents daily alert charting on appropriate residents
  • Reports significant condition changes to Charge Nurse or Clinical Care Coordinator
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by management to meet changing job related requirements
  • Handles all forms of resident Protected Health Information (PHI) in a confidential, private and secure manner

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Understanding of/or sensitivity to Asian cultures
  • A strong desire to work with older adults and an understanding of the aging process

Education, Experience and Certifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited program of nursing education
  • Current Washington state LPN or RN license
  • Nursing experience in long term care setting preferable, but not required

NAC-Certified Nursing Assistant

Provides resident directed services based on resident care plans in a respectful and culturally sensitive manner that maximizes quality of life
  • Cues, assists and/or provides personal care services for residents as directed by residents and/or resident care plan
  • Takes and records vital signs; measures and records heights and weights
  • Measures and records fluid and food intake and output
  • Recognizes and reports observations of changes in condition or residents' needs to Licensed Nurse
  • Provides restorative intervention as directed by Licensed Nurses or other supervisors
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to residents' emotional, social and mental health needs
  • Makes and reports observations of residents' environment to ensure safety and comfort of resident
  • Reports any accident, hazards or unusual occurrences to appropriate personnel
  • Participates in care planning and nursing reporting process
  • Demonstrates and promotes residents' rights including appropriate response to abuse and neglect
  • Changes bed linens and makes beds
  • Documents resident care appropriately before the end of shift
  • Answers call lights in a timely manner
  • Attends required in-services and trainings, 12 hours per year
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by management to meet changing job-related requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • A strong desire to work with older adults
  • An understanding and appreciation of the aging process
  • Understanding of/or sensitivity to Asian cultures
  • An understanding of dementia and techniques for intervention and communication
  • Have excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to work with constant interruptions
  • Must have good memory, recall and be detail-oriented
  • Must be able to use sound judgment (problem resolution skills) in the execution of daily tasks
  • Must be able to carry out verbal and/or written instructions
  • Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively in a team environment
  • Must be able to read/write/speak English
  • Must possess basic mathematical skills

Education, Experience and Certifications:

  • Current Washington State Nursing Assistant Certification or Nursing Assistant Registered Certification and is eligible to take the State Certification exam
  • Some experience in working with the elderly, in other related service fields, or demonstrates the desire to do so
  • Handles all forms of protected health information (PHI) in a confidential, private and secure manner
