Receptionist

On-Call
To ensure the smooth function of front desk operations by directing telephone calls and visitors as well as to provide administrative support.
  • Operate a multi-phone system
  • Greet and direct visitors, following proper security measures
  • Accept monetary donations and payments; accept non-monetary donations
  • Sell various items for Seattle Keiro fundraising purposes
  • Issue refunds for vending machines and fill out reimbursement slips
  • Accept deliveries and control delivery door
  • Distribute and receive employment applications
  • Sort and distribute mail; forward mail to former residents
  • Collect meal money
  • Light clerical work as directed
  • Attend appropriate inservices
  • Handles all forms of resident Protected Health Information (PHI) in a confidential, private and secure manner
  • Other duties may be assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Ability to work independently
  • Have excellent customer service skills
  • Accurate cash handling
  • Ability to work with constant interruptions
  • Ability and desire to work with people of diverse cultural backgrounds

Education, Experience and Certifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year of experience as a receptionist or in customer service preferred

Licensed Nurse

Provides direct nursing care to assigned residents within 75-bed continuing care unit. Provides direct supervision of Nursing Assistants to ensure appropriate clinical care that meets residents' changing needs.
  • Performs and assist with technical nursing procedures
  • Provides skilled nursing assessments and interventions as directed in the comprehensive plan of care
  • Administers medications and treatments to assigned residents, following all appropriate physician's orders
  • Documents daily alert charting on appropriate residents
  • Reports significant condition changes to Charge Nurse or Clinical Care Coordinator
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by management to meet changing job related requirements
  • Handles all forms of resident Protected Health Information (PHI) in a confidential, private and secure manner

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Understanding of/or sensitivity to Asian cultures
  • A strong desire to work with older adults and an understanding of the aging process

Education, Experience and Certifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited program of nursing education
  • Current Washington state LPN or RN license
  • Nursing experience in long term care setting preferable, but not required

NAC-Certified Nursing Assistant

Provides resident directed services based on resident care plans in a respectful and culturally sensitive manner that maximizes quality of life
  • Cues, assists and/or provides personal care services for residents as directed by residents and/or resident care plan
  • Takes and records vital signs; measures and records heights and weights
  • Measures and records fluid and food intake and output
  • Recognizes and reports observations of changes in condition or residents' needs to Licensed Nurse
  • Provides restorative intervention as directed by Licensed Nurses or other supervisors
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to residents' emotional, social and mental health needs
  • Makes and reports observations of residents' environment to ensure safety and comfort of resident
  • Reports any accident, hazards or unusual occurrences to appropriate personnel
  • Participates in care planning and nursing reporting process
  • Demonstrates and promotes residents' rights including appropriate response to abuse and neglect
  • Changes bed linens and makes beds
  • Documents resident care appropriately before the end of shift
  • Answers call lights in a timely manner
  • Attends required in-services and trainings, 12 hours per year
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by management to meet changing job-related requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • A strong desire to work with older adults
  • An understanding and appreciation of the aging process
  • Understanding of/or sensitivity to Asian cultures
  • An understanding of dementia and techniques for intervention and communication
  • Have excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to work with constant interruptions
  • Must have good memory, recall and be detail-oriented
  • Must be able to use sound judgment (problem resolution skills) in the execution of daily tasks
  • Must be able to carry out verbal and/or written instructions
  • Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively in a team environment
  • Must be able to read/write/speak English
  • Must possess basic mathematical skills

Education, Experience and Certifications:

  • Current Washington State Nursing Assistant Certification or Nursing Assistant Registered Certification and is eligible to take the State Certification exam
  • Some experience in working with the elderly, in other related service fields, or demonstrates the desire to do so
  • Handles all forms of protected health information (PHI) in a confidential, private and secure manner

Resident Assistant

Assists residents with activities of daily living as negotiated in service agreement
  • Assists residents with dressing, undressing, personal hygiene (shaving, dental care, nail care, hair care, foot care), bathing, and toileting as indicated in individual service plans
  • Assists with meal service including serving food, cutting foods, opening packages, clearing dishes, scraping plates, and transporting soiled dishes to kitchen
  • Collects, wash, dry, fold, and return laundry as scheduled
  • Changes bed linens as scheduled
  • Responds to emergencies according to policies and procedures
  • Observes and reports changes in residents' physical, cognitive, or emotional status to nurse or Health Services Coordinator
  • Takes vital signs as scheduled and as directed by nurse
  • Documents vital signs, medication assistance, and observations as necessary
  • Cleans and sanitizes tables, dining room kitchen areas (including stove, refrigerator, and ice machine). Cleans dining rooms floors after meals and mops kitchen floor at end of shift
  • Assists with medications during nightshift
  • Nightshift: Performs safety checks/make rounds. Cleans upstairs kitchen areas daily (wipes down refrigerator inside and out, wipes down counters and cupboards, wipes down appliances including stove top, microwave, and ice machine, empty trash); Reads and records 2nd & 3rd floor refrigerator temperature daily around 9pm; Secures first floor doors daily; Checks first floor kitchen pilot lights daily
  • Float RA/Medication Assistant: Primary responsibility for assisting with all category B medications, taking routine vital signs, and assisting with meal service. Assists with other Resident Assistant duties
  • Handles all forms of resident Protected Health Information (PHI) in a confidential, private and secure manner

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Have excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to work with constant interruptions
  • Ability to function as a team member in sharing responsibility for the provision of resident services in cooperation with all other members of the team
  • Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
  • Must be able to read/write/speak English
  • Ability to speak Japanese preferred
  • Must enjoy working with the elderly and demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of the aging process

Education, Experience and Certifications:

  • Current CPR and First Aid certification or must obtain within 30 days of hire
  • Fundamentals of Caregiving or Modified Fundamentals of Caregiving or must obtain within 120 days of hire
  • Current Food Handlers permit or must obtain within 14 days of hire
  • HIV/AIDS training or must obtain within 30 days
