STARLIGHT TO LOS ANGELES, DISCOVER SAN DIEGO!
Many of you have been waiting for this trip! We will take Amtrak, Starlight to Los Angeles, CA. This 35-hour-roomette-ride will give you a relaxing, peaceful, and luxurious experience. Of course, accommodations and all meals on board are included. At the end of this memorable ride we will stay at Miyako Hotel Los Angeles in the center of Little Tokyo. On day 3, let's discover Little Tokyo. We will have a guided tour at the Japanese American National Museum in the morning. There are numerous Japanese restaurants in the area for lunch on your own. In the afternoon explore unique Asian shops you have never seen in Seattle! We will share stories of the day during dinner. Day 4, we will visit The Huntington Library in the morning. Here you'll find one of the most beautiful Japanese Gardens on the West Coast. In the afternoon we will go to The Getty Center to see European modern art, architecture, photographs and gardens. Day 5, we will motor coach to San Diego - enjoy fantastic coastal views from our motor coach. Stop over at Old Town San Diego before we check into our hotel. Days 6 and 7, we may visit San Diego Zoo, Wild Animal Park, and SeaWorld. The tour is not over yet! The last night of the trip, we will have a dinner cruise on San Diego Bay. Share your stories of the week with your fellow participants and enjoy a wonderful dinner with entertainment. There will be a lot of walking on this tour, so wear comfortable shoes and dress for the climate.

SEATTLE MARINERS VS. THE NEW YORK YANKEES
Let's have fun cheering on the Mariners! Let Nikkei Horizons take you out to the ballgame this summer for an evening game against the New York Yankees. We have field-level seats, which should get you close enough to see all the action. No need to fight the traffic and vie for parking; Nikkei Horizons' buses will drop you right at the stadium and pick you up after the game. Prior to the game, we'll enjoy a late lunch together at McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurant.

LEARN THE LIFESAVING TECHNIQUE OF CPR
Would you know what to do if a loved one's heart stopped or this individual was choking and couldn't breathe? If a bystander at the scene administers prompt CPR before the Fire Department's emergency medical team arrives, the individual's chances of survival are more than doubled. Come find out how you can learn to possibly help save the life of a spouse, son, daughter, friend or loved one. All classes are conducted by Fire Department personnel. Our Adult course is two hours in length and consists of a "Watch-Then-Practice" video, instructor-led discussion, question and answer period, and training on mannequins, which includes scenarios and practice. It's free. CPR is easy to learn...the class is a lot of fun and the friendly and patient Fire Department CPR instructor, Lt. William Murphy is looking forward to meeting all of you. Donations to the fire department are appreciated.

DISASTER PREPAREDNESS FOR SENIORS
We learned general information of disaster preparedness from the American Red Cross. This time, JoAnn Jordan, the Emergency Preparedness Education Coordinator from the City of Seattle, will be concentrating on disaster preparedness for seniors. Getting ready for a disaster doesn't need to be scary or overwhelming. In fact, getting ready can be fun and empowering! This class will focus on basic disaster preparedness including how to be safe in an earthquake, putting together a disaster supplies kit, and creating a family communications plan. Throughout the class, you will learn preparedness tips specifically designed to help seniors prepare for disasters.

CHIYOGAMI NINGYO
In this unique workshop you will fold, cut and glue your chiyogami paper to make an adorable girl - warabe ningyo doll. This class is taught mostly in Japanese. Supplies needed: glue, small scissors, a round pencil (for rolling paper), a centimeter (cm) ruler, floral tape (any color) and small clothespins or plastic paper clips. Kuniko Mancini has been crafting nippon ningyo (Japanese dolls) for over ten years and displays her work every year at the Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival.

55 ALIVE: DRIVER SAFETY PROGRAM
This two-day workshop, presented by AARP, is specially designed for motorists age 50 and older to help them improve their driving skills to avoid accidents and traffic violations. Class topics include: problems older drivers face, how to adjust for changes in vision, hearing and reaction time, how to handle various road challenges, and review of traffic signs, lane markings and rules of the road. There are no tests, and the workshop graduates age 55 and older are eligible for discounts on their auto insurance premiums. Fred Sakura has been volunteering as an AARP driving instructor since retiring from GE Medical Systems where he taught the Smith Systems Driving Course.

LET'S MAKE BOXES IN A TEAM!
This will be a fun workshop in which you will have a choice of making one of three different styles of boxes such as crane, zouri (Japanese sandals), or pencil boxes. This time, we will make boxes in pairs such as grandparent/grandchild, parent/child, or two siblings. Box-making kits will be provided. Supplies needed: scissors, straight edges, glue, scotch tape, pencil or pen. Nobie Takahashi has been crafting with chiyogami paper for many years, and enjoys sharing her talents and tips. For ages 8-88.

BEGINNING HULA DANCE
This class will introduce children to Hawaiian music and culture through the graceful art of hula dance. Students will practice proper posture, nice ami's and lovely hula hands as they learn a complete dance from start to finish in this fun six-session class. Bare feet, cool clothes and water bottles are a must. Bring along Hawaiian clothing, accessories or instruments if you have them. For ages 10-16.

FUN BEGINNING JAPANESE LANGUAGE
This class is an introduction to simple Japanese conversation and expressions. Students will learn basic communication skills and practice greetings, expressions and vocabulary common in the everyday lives of Japanese children and families. For ages 8-14.
