TOURS

DIABLO LAKE ADVENTURE BOAT CRUISE, 8 am-8 pm -Friday, Aug. 12-$76 – OPEN!

This beautiful two-and-a-half hour adventure tour explores Diablo Lake. Cruise the glacier-fed waters and high, narrow canyons of Diablo Lake on the 50-foot Alice Ross III. Sample the famous Skagit Fudge at the Skagit General Store, and take a short hike on one of the nearby trails. Enjoy a picnic bento lunch before our cruise and dinner afterward at The Eatery in Marblemount (dinner on your own.)

The beautiful city of Portland beckons once again. The Four Points by Sheraton on the Willamette River will be our host for the night. Enjoy shopping and sightseeing all afternoon on Thursday, with visits to Pittock Mansion, The Grotto, and Botanical Garden. The next day, board the Portland Spirit for a lunch cruise on the Willamette River.

Let Nikkei Horizons take you out to the ball park this summer with an afternoon game against the New York Yankees. We have field-level seats, No need to fight the traffic and vie for parking; Nikkei Horizons' buses will drop you right at the stadium and pick you up again after. If we fill forty seats, we have the option to enjoy our own private group luncheon at Lookout Landing at Safeco Field prior to the game. (If we do not fill all forty spaces, we will dine at a nearby restaurant prior to the game.)

WORKSHOPS

DRAFTING A WILL - DATE CHANGED TO SEPT. 10! Sat. 10:30AM-11:30AM -FREE (with annual membership) STILL OPEN!

A proper will is important in ensuring that your wishes are carried out after your death. This workshop will offer you step-by-step instructions on drafting a basic will. Discussion and instructions will be conducted in both English and Japanese. Kiyoko Kamio is a Japanese-speaking lawyer admitted to practice in Washington.

SUMINAGASHI, Tues., Aug. 9 – NEW TIME, 11:30- 4pm -$15 STILL OPEN!

Suminagashi is the ancient Japanese art of ink marbling on paper. This workshop will introduce you to the history and techniques of this unique art form. You will experiment with the inks yourself, and make a finished print to take home with you. Additional uses for suminagashi prints in crafts will be discussed. Supplies needed: 9"x13" baking dish and sumie or watercolor brushes if you have them

CHIYOGAMI NINGYO – Wed. Aug. 17, 10-11 am - $25 Still Open!

In this challenging workshop you will fold, cut and glue your chiyogami paper to make an adorable girl warabe ningyo doll. This class is taught mostly in Japanese. Supplies needed: glue, small scissors, a round pencil (for rolling paper), a cm ruler, floral tape (any color) and small clothespins or plastic paper clips.

DRIVER SAFETY PROGRAM- Wed. & Fri., Aug 24 & 26 – 10am -3pm - Tuition: FREE! (Bring a $10 check payable to AARP)

This two-day workshop, presented by AARP, is specially designed for motorists age 50 and older to help them improve their driving skills and avoid accidents and traffic violations. There are no tests, and graduates age 55 and older are eligible for discounts on their auto insurance premiums.
