STARLIGHT TO LOS ANGELES, DISCOVER SAN DIEGO!
Many of you have been waiting for this trip! We will take Amtrak, Starlight to Los Angeles, CA. This 35-hour-roomette-ride will give you a relaxing, peaceful, and luxurious experience. Of course, accommodations and all meals on board are included. At the end of this memorable ride we will stay at Miyako Hotel Los Angeles in the center of Little Tokyo. On day 3, let's discover Little Tokyo. We will have a guided tour at the Japanese American National Museum in the morning. There are numerous Japanese restaurants in the area for lunch on your own. In the afternoon explore unique Asian shops you have never seen in Seattle! We will share stories of the day during dinner. Day 4, we will visit The Huntington Library in the morning. Here you'll find one of the most beautiful Japanese Gardens on the West Coast. In the afternoon we will go to The Getty Center to see European modern art, architecture, photographs and gardens. Day 5, we will motorcoach to San Diego - enjoy fantastic coast of views from our motorcoach. Stop over at Old Town San Diego before we check into our hotel. Days 6 and 7, we may visit San Diego Zoo, Wild Animal Park, and SeaWorld. The tour is not over yet! The last night of the trip, we will have a dinner cruise on San Diego Bay. Share your stories of the week with your fellow participants and enjoy a wonderful dinner with entertainment. There will be a lot of walking on this tour, so wear comfortable shoes and dress for the climate.

Heather Nakamura is a registered dietician with Master's degrees in both Nutrition and Exercise Physiology.

LEARN THE LIFESAVING TECHNIQUE OF CPR
Would you know what to do if a loved one's heart stopped or was choking and couldn't breath? If a bystander at the scene administers prompt CPR before the Fire Department's emergency medical team arrives, individual's chances of survival are more than doubled. Come find out how you can learn to help possibly save the life of a spouse, son, daughter, friend or loved one. All classes are conducted by Fire Department personnel. Our Adult course is two hours in length and consists of a "Watch-Then-Practice" video, instructor-led discussion, question and answer period, and training on mannequins, which includes scenarios and peer practice. It's free. CPR is easy to learn...the class is a lot of fun and the friendly and patient Fire Department CPR instructor, Lt. William Murphy is looking forward to meeting all of you. Donations to the fire department are appreciated.

HIGHLIGHTED CLASSES

BEGINNING WATERCOLOR
Express your creativity through the transparent and versatile medium of watercolor paints. Using techniques such as glazing, wet-in-wet, and washes you'll learn basic skills to create colorful and personal works of art. Supplies needed: watercolor brushes and paper, palette, watercolor paints, a water container, pencil and eraser. Supplies may be purchased after the first class.

SUMMER DRUMMER: TAIKO FOR KIDS
This fun, 4-week class will introduce children to the basic rhythms, stance and movements of taiko drumming, as well as the history of taiko in Japanese and Japanese American culture. No experience is necessary-this is a beginning class! Please wear clothing and foot wear to allow ease of movement (e.g. gym clothes, jogging suit, etc.). For ages 8-14.
